December 2005: This just in--three CES Faculty members contribute to new book: Scholars Dr. Steven B. Cowan, Dr. Phil Fernandes, and Dr. Eric Svendsen (along with 21 other scholars) have contributed their expertise to a new book: The Big Argument: Twenty-Four Scholars Explore How Science, Archaeology, and Philosophy Have Proven the Existence of God (Paperback) by John Ashton (Editor).

December 2005: Recent Graduate: Congratulations to Brad Stewart of Washington. He received his Master of Theological Studies degree from CES this month. Brad transferred into CES with a B.S. from Excelsior College and postgraduate studies from City University. Brad is the Director of Men's Ministries at The Summit, and throughout the Pacific Northwest for the Evangelical Free Church of America. While in the military, Brad served as vice chairman of the board of directors for the Yokosuka Japan Christian Serviceman's Center. He is a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer.

December 2005: Recent Graduate: Congratulations to Gregory A. Hammer of Iowa. He just received his Doctor of Theological Studies degree from CES. Dr. Hammer transferred into CES with a B.S. from Northwest Missouri State University; the M.A. from Wheaton Graduate School; and the M.A. from Faith Baptist Theological Seminary. Concering the D.T.S. with CES, Greg tells us that, "Without a doubt, it has been a challenging degree but well worth the effort." All of us at CES wish him well, and we pray that God will continue to use him mightily in his ministry.

September 2005: CES faculty member has book published. Congratulations to Carmen DiCello, D.T.S., whose book, Dangerous Blessing: The Emergence of a Postmodern Faith, was recently published. This book looks at issues related to the expression of Christian faith in today's postmodern world. Steering clear of extremes, DiCello helps readers identify both the dangers and the blessings of recent cultural change. Dangerous Blessing is available at Wipf & Stock Publishers as well as Amazon.com.

August 2005: CES student goes home to be with the Lord: Roberta Georgia Pendergrass (of Illinois) went to be with the Lord on August 18, 2005. Roberta (47) was a Master of Apologetics student. She held a B.A in psychology from the University of Florida, Gainsville. Roberta worked as a legal secretary for a downtown Chicago law firm. Our prayers are with her family.

June 2005: CES Professor earns PhD: N. Blake Hearson just earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Old Testament from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Hearson is a member of the CES faculty and is active in his local church. His future plans include teaching and ministry as well as preparing several projects for publication.

April 2005: CES Professor makes 30 college-level courses in apologetics, theology, Bible, cults, world religions, and philosophy available for free on-line: Longtime CES mentor Phil Fernandes, Ph.D. has debated at Princeton University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and other colleges. April 2005: Recent Graduate: Congratulations to Mrs. Kathy Romanowski of Washington state. Kathy transferred a year of undergraduate credits from the University of Wisconsin, and she completed her Associate of Religious Studies degree with CES in two years.

April 2005: It was April 1991, fourteen years ago, that CES officially opened its doors. CES wishes to thank all of its Students, Friends, Faculty, and Board Members who have been involved in this ministry for the last 14 years. God has used Columbia Seminary to touch and bless many lives in (and outside of) His kingdom.
